News of Upcoming Tours and Future Events

Florida Adventures

As most of my tour participants will affirmatively acknowledge, I go more than the extra mile to assure their (and my) safety and the safety of their equipment when we travel either locally or to far off lands. I learned a very long time ago to listen carefully to my own instincts or my own inner voice, but also I try not to have my judgment clouded by rumors, gossip, or all the ‘doom and gloom’ that seems to be constantly spewing out of the television, radios, and other means of human communication. I’m also a firm believer that when I’m in doubt as to what the right move is or the correct course of action might be that that is the time for me to sit back, do nothing and play the ‘wait and see’ game.

Well, folks, that is where I am right now regarding my upcoming Ecuador Tour in June. There just have been too many signals or negative bells going off for me not to stop, postpone the trip for now, and play ‘wait and see’. The economy going in the toilet isn’t pleasant, but really didn’t slow things down completely as the tour filled with a nice group. But now with the ‘Swine Flu’ rearing its ugly head, the need for airline travel (which is a trip to hell at it’s best!) and with the second case of that flu cropping up here in Florida and right in my own county, I deem it necessary to stop and ‘sit tight’ for awhile. I feel the phrase “forewarned is forearmed” applies here.

There has been keen interest in the Namibia trip scheduled for this September, but I’ve suggested a ‘hold’—just for the immediate future-- on those of you wanting to send me a deposit to insure your spots. You are on the list and will get first “dibs” when I make my final decision on that tour, which will be in the near future.

I can only hope that you Ecuadorian participants took my advice and obtained the necessary travel cancellation insurance, which I believe you did. I am returning your deposits in full and have asked my Ecuadorian hosts to apply the deposits I already sent to them to my next, upcoming trip. This is a time for good-faith, and for everyone to help each other out as best we can.

Photo Researchers, Editors, and Publishers:

As stated in previous newsletters, at no obligation to you, send me a “want list” of images you are looking for that may coincide with a trip I'm about to take, or have recently taken, and I'll do my very best to seek out that subject and shoot it with your request in mind. This may save you some expense, give me a specific mission and possibly a sale of that image. It's a ‘win, win situation'!

A quick reminder that my library of 35mm original slides houses approximately 75,000 images, and my digital library presently holds over 100,000 (and growing-hourly)!

My website holds an in-depth Stock Shop for your quick review: www.joannewilliamsphoto.com
